About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional oriental medical therapy that has a history of over 4000 years. It is indicated for more than 100 diseases, and its efficacy for many of these diseases has been officially recognized by the World Health Organization. In recent years, research and education regarding acupuncture and moxibustion have been conducted at educational institutions in the United States, and acupuncture treatment has been garnering attention worldwide.
Acupuncture is a therapeutic treatment that applies needles to special pressure points to induce recovery.
Needles are not only applied to the affected areas, but to the complete body. We approach health from a holistic point of view, and adapt our treatments to how patients evolve and respond. During one visit we may recommend one course of action, but during the next session we might suggest a different approach that is better suited to the patient’s current state. We have many regular patients who seek out acupuncture to maintain their health, and we are happy to provide a long-term service to keep you healthy.
We use top-quality disposable needles, which removes the possibility of infection.
EGBOK has been in business for over 25 years, and we have never had any complications, so you can visit us with the peace of mind that only our experience can provide.

FAQs
Does acupuncture hurt?
Because the needle is thinner than human hair, there is generally no pain. Depending on the part of the body, stimulation similar to the feeling of being bitten by a mosquito may be experienced, but most people do not mind this. Furthermore, although there may be a sense of a “reverberation” that is peculiar to acupuncture, please be assured that it is a phenomenon that indicates a very good therapeutic effect.
Why Acupuncture?
According to oriental medical theory, sickness and injuries develop due to the stagnation of these flows. Acupuncture treatment uses specialized needles that are thinner than human hair to regulate the flows and improve the physical condition of patients.
It also regulates the secretion of hormones using specific points within the body to relieve symptoms. For example, when treating pain, brain stimulation promotes analgesic hormones such as endorphins and enkephalins, and when treating infertility or depression, it can regulate the amounts of secreted sex or adrenal hormones, respectively.
Although the mechanism of acupuncture has not yet been scientifically elucidated, there is a reason that this treatment method has remained in existence for over 4,000 years.
How often do I receive the treatment?
The number of visits differs for each patient based on their symptoms. Generally, a higher degree of efficacy can be expected by visiting the clinic as frequently as possible.
We usually recommend visiting every alternate day for someone having a crick in the back and unable to spend usual daily life. Consult us for your best treatment cycle based on your condition.
About moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort on particular points on the body. It plays an important role to warm regions and meridian points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and qi. Our acupuncture session is often accompanied by Moxibustion, a complementary treatment that applies heat to acupuncture points.
